Let It Snow! SNOW is Like Grace

 Snow. Snow. Snow

Snow is defined as soft, white pieces of frozen water that fall to the ground from the sky in cold weather. Many people who live in the US will agree that there has been an overabundance of snow this winter.  Snow has even fallen in places that don’t normally get this type of precipitation, such as parts of Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma, etc.

Snow – Enjoyed or Endured

Snow in the Bible.

What does the word of God say about snow?  I found three references in the bible concerning snow.  Job chapter 37 explains how God allows the snow to fall by speaking to it. Job 37:6 reads [God] saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth.  This means that God has control over the snow and where it falls. The snow does not come from the devil people.  It comes from our Heavenly Father. The word of God also tells us that even the snow praises God! Psalms 148:7-8 writes Praise the LORD from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps:  Fire, and hail;  snow, and vapours;  stormy wind fulfilling his word. The snow must answer to God. He controls all of the elements because He created them. He controls the snow because He created it. Finally, the word of God explains how the infamous Proverbs 31 woman does not fear for her family when it snows because her whole family has a double layer of clothing (Ref. Proverbs 31:21 [GWT]). She was aware of the effects of snow and prepared herself for it beforehand. She did not fear the snow as so many of us do.

The aforementioned examples from the word of God tell us that snow is not from the devil, it is nothing to be feared and it praises God.

The Benefits of Snow

winter wonderland

Snow is important for the health of our soil and groundwater supply. Without snow, green grass, tall corn and thick soy beans would die. When snow melts, it turns into a fresh supply of water to the soil. Without this water, we would have no crops, plants or trees. Snow is an excellent insulator. Snow blocks wind and insulates heat. Without a layer of snow, there would be no protection from the sub-zero degree temperatures.  Snow is also beautiful to look at and easy on the eyes. The white covered trees and houses makes a town look like a winter wonderland.

Amazing Grace

Jesus Christ gives hope to many.

Jesus Christ gives hope to many.

Grace is defined as unearned or undeserved favor or kindness. The grace of God is His undeserved kindness or unmerited favor.  We don’t have to do anything special to obtain the grace of God. He just does it because He loves us all – the saints and the sinners. He loves the one who denies Him and the one who accepts Him.

The word of God has multiple references to the grace of God. Romans 5:1-2 mentions that we have access by faith into this grace through our Lord Jesus Christ. Rom 5:20 says that where sin abounded, grace did much more abound. Further, Rom. 5:21 mentions that grace will reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. Ephesians 2:5 mentions that we are saved by grace.

The MOST amazing grace of God is the grace of the forgiveness of ALL your sins. This amazing grace was provided by the blood of Jesus Christ that was shed on the cross at Calvary over 2000 years ago. Accepting this amazing grace of the forgiveness of ALL your sins through FAITH washes you clean and presents you faultless and pure in the eyes of God (Ref. Jude 1:24).

Snow is like the grace of God.

grace flows down

Just as snow falls to the earth to help nourish, replenish and cover the earth, the grace of God is also poured down to help nourish and replenish our complete being – soul, spirit and flesh. The amazing grace of God through the blood of Jesus Christ covers believers so that when God looks at them He sees them as pure and faultless because acceptance of this type of grace by FAITH washes away ALL sins.

Dangerous Snow/Dangerous Grace

The snow has many advantages; however, driving in the snow requires a huge respect for this interesting element. One must be very cautious when driving in the snow. Near-fatal or fatal accidents can occur as a result of the lack of cautiousness when driving in the snow. Likewise, we must be careful with how we use the grace of God.  We think that we will always have access to His grace or that we can continue sinning and grace will continue to increase. Rom. 6:1 states What shall we say then?  Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?  2 God forbid.  It is not God’s will for us to continue in sin just because God is gracious and loving.  Grace DOES indeed run out. Accept the blood of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins, follow the plan of salvation and live HOLY before God the rest of your days on this earth.

Snow Day? How About Grace Days?

Look at the concept osnow dayf snow days. Occasionally, especially in parts of Michigan, children will have snow days. A snow day in the US and Canada is a day that school classes are cancelled or delayed by snow, heavy ice, or extremely low temperatures. People normally spend snow days catching up on much needed rest, homework, family time or having loads of playtime.

How about grace days?  Every day on this earth is a day of grace for humanity. We are in a time where grace is flowing freely to all.  Wherever there is sin, there is an overabundance of grace waiting on the one who sins. God’s grace has allowed many to have good health, sound minds, shelter from the cold and much, much more.  Spend grace days being thankful for God’s grace.
