Somebody has said that if you want to know what a person truly values, read his checkbook and his calendar. The truth is that many of us just rock along, day by day, hour after hour, without any real thought about why we are doing what we are doing. We just do it, that’s all. We don’t remember why. We get up in the morning to go to work to earn enough to put a roof over our heads so that we can rest and be ready to get up the next morning and go to work to earn enough to put a roof over our heads so that we can rest and be ready to get up the next morning … do you see?
What on earth are we here for? What fruit are we bringing forth? What are we doing for the Kingdom of Heaven?
We are here to be used as the one who made us wants to use us. We are here to act in accordance with the purposes of God, because we belong to God. Our trouble is that we think we belong to ourselves. We think we own our own lives, and so should be able to do anything we please. But we do not belong to ourselves. We belong to God, who made us, to Christ, who redeemed us by His blood.
Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.
“We are here to be used as the one who made us wants to use us.”
This is so true. Our life is not ours alone. We need to stop living for ourselves and start living for God.
